Mercedes-Benz in Germany Purchases Coherix ShaPix® 3D High-Definition Micron Level Precision Measurement System

Ann Arbor, Michigan, November 25, 2014 — Leading global supplier of high-speed, high-definition 3D measurement and inspection solutions, Coherix, Inc., provides Mercedes-Benz in Germany a 3D High-Definition Micron Level ShaPix 3800 precision measurement system to provide critical analysis during their product development process for their new 4-cylinder diesel engine.

When the production of the new engine models begins in 2015-16, the ShaPix system will be used near the production line to check a percentage of the engines being manufactured to insure high quality and specifications are being met. Mercedes production engineers are expecting a far quicker reaction time in order to optimize machine tools and complex machining processes.

During the product development process, the ShaPix system will enable them to see the relationship between multiple critical mating surfaces in one picture. No data interpretation is needed. The ShaPix technology allows micron level, full surface analysis in minutes speeding up the diesel engine development process.

Viewing the profile of a precision surface in 3D clearly communicates conformance, tolerances, and where on the surface the measurement was taken, which virtually eliminates measurement method, processing and interpretation questions enabling root cause analysis to begin effectively.
